Trailing European aromatic plant of the mint family having rounded leaves and small purplish flowers often grown in hanging baskets; naturalized in North America; sometimes placed in genus Nepeta. Synonyms: alehoof, field balm, Glechoma hederaceae, ground ivy, Nepeta hederaceae, runaway robin.
