Vena n. (pl. venae) A vein. Vena cava; (pl. venae cavae) (Anat.) Any one of the great systemic veins connected directly with the heart.
Vena contracta. (Hydraulics) The contracted portion of a liquid jet at and near the orifice from which it issues.
